Daily Tasks of a Special Education Teacher
-The teacher arrives to school early to make a plan for the day. -She goes to the buses and greets her students. -When they switch classes she makes sure they have their hands to their sides and make sure they are being respectful to each other. -One of the students wasn’t feeling good, so she took them to the nurse. -Shortly after, another student didn’t feel well, and she said that usually happens when a student doesn’t feel good. -First bell was Art Class, and it’s the most difficult to transfer to. -She’s teaching them to be adolescents, so she reminds them not to be “touchy-feely” and just do high fives. |
-She is now teaching them how to properly add up money and grocery shop.
-They take a field trip to the grocery store. -They get all their items on the list then go to the self check out. -They return to the school. -It is time for lunch. -They go to gym class and play badminton. -After gym class it’s the end of the day and she loads the kids up on their buses to go home for the day. |

WSU Tour
I went on a visit to Wright State University on September 16th 2016. The first thing I did was fill out a small survey, and then we went into a small room to listen to a 30 minute presentation about the school's history and everything the school has to offer. After the presentation, the group broke up and went on the tour. I learned Wright State is the only school with the underground tunnels; we got to go into the tunnels, which was pretty cool. They took us through all the different buildings on campus. We got to see all the different types of dorms they have to offer. They showed the activities building. There is so much at Wright State I feel like I would never be bored if I attended.
I really enjoyed the visit; there are so many different buildings. The main building itself is huge. The dorm buildings have a few different options of dorms: two people dorms and one person dorms. I got to tour the library which was HUGE, and it has Starbucks in it which is always a plus!!!

Summary of Navy IT Video
IT covers a wide variety of things and in turn is widely applicable to the civilian world. In this video the montgomery GI bill is mentioned which can be used to pay for college. The speakers give their names and ranks and reasons why they joined and what they do as an IT. This is the closest I can get as Navy IT technicians are a top secret intelligence unit and are unable to record their jobs actually happening or talk about 100% of what they are doing. |

Young man playing horn solo with an accompanied orchestra-One of the passions I have in the future is performing on the french horn. This is a video of a (now) professional hornist named Radek Baborak (14 years old at the time), who is clearly a virtuoso at this instrument if you watched the video. Baborak has performed with many symphonies in the past. He is performing the Weber concertino with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. He is paying only playing excerpt C and D from this solo, the whole thing is maybe twice this length.

Horn section plays soli part in orchestral piece-
The reason I chose this video is because I want to play in an orchestra in the future. This is an excerpt from Dmitri Shostakovich’s 5th symphony, where the horn section plays a very loud (and fun) soli part. This was performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra. |

Police Video
This video tells us about the about the daily tasks of police officers and how they have to stay cautious/vigilant in their job. They have to stay vigilant because of the anti-police movement and all of the cop killings that go along with the anti-police movement. Even though most cops would say that a majority of their days are filled with traffic violations, they always need to be alert. |

Tour of UC’s Campus and DAAP Building
My sister drove me to the University of Cincinnati and we joined others in a small room for a presentation about the school. After that we split up into groups based on our college plans. I went with the group that would end up at the building for DAAP (design, architecture, art and planning) students. We took a tour of the campus then were dropped off at the DAAP building for another presentation and tour of the building. We took an entire tour of the DAAP building, and got to see some students in the process of working.
I really enjoyed the visit to UC, and would like to attend school there. I like the fact that it’s close to home, and that the campus is big, but doesn’t feel that big. I learned some new things about the DAAP program, and some interesting facts about the school itself. This would definitely be a good school to attend, with its DAAP program and large variety of buildings accessible to the students. The school is also right next to a road full of businesses, making it easy to get a part time job while attending.

My Guided Tour of Kent
When I toured Kent, we started out in the Student Center to sign in. They gave me a booklet of general information and a printed paper titled “Psychology.” A representative gave a presentation on all the general features of campus, like the recreation center, library, dorms, etc. One of the things that really caught my attention was the big painted rock; that students are allowed to paint over and express themselves and the history of the protest in 1970. Then th guide talked about the majors Kent offers and the deadlines an applying student needs to meet. On the actual tour we went to the student center, library, residence halls, the 1970 protest memorial, and Bowman Hall (where a lot of the required classes are).
I liked Kent a lot for many reasons. It had an intriguing history, and they really seemed to educate their tour guides so that they knew what they were talking about. The tour guide told us what a normal day would most likely look like your first year, and all the best places to eat on campus and such. I learned what majors they offered, and what the average student’s credentials needed to be. I also learned what their psychology program consisted of, broken down, and what kinds of psychology I could go into. They also told me that I can apply online and with no essay, and they’ll accept or reject me in four-weeks.

Narration of the CBT Method
I narrated this video from start to 53:16. This video is a demonstration of the CBT Method, which means cognitive behavioral therapy. It is a form or treatment used for Depression. In this video, they show several therapy sessions between Edward Crane and the Clinical Psychologist, Arthur Freeman. Throughout these sessions, Edward expresses that things are not going well at home between Sharon, his children and himself. In the first session, Edward is very closed off with Arthur. Edward expresses he is here because his wife, has told him he needs to go to therapy. Sharon is going back to school, and Edward feels angry that she is no longer attending to him or many of the daily house duties. These duties end up falling on Edward. The strategy of this session was to look at Edward’s feelings and focus on the cognitions that are connected to those feelings. During the first part of the session Arthur was getting information from Edward, and looking at the problems. Then, they developed a problem list, and with that they will work on his perception of these problems. At the end of the session, Edward commits to come back for later sessions. The second session was dedicated to further clarify Edward’s problems and to receive more information. This session was not shown. In the third session, a new problem arose. Sharon is going to a nursing conference with her fellow classmates. Edward offered to go with her, but she told him no because she already had plans with these classmates. This has made Edward feel angry, abandoned and depressed. To help sort out Edward’s thoughts, Arthur is using the three column technique. The three column technique is used by writing out a situation, thoughts about the situation, and emotions about the situation. This is used to format thoughts and to help problem solving. Arthur suggests alternate activities he could do while his wife is away. Some examples that were talked about were to go bowling, go to the movies, and eat at a Chinese restaurant. |
These are all activities Edward has said he enjoys, but his wife does not. Edward says he will do these things while his wife is away. Toward the end of this session, Edward asks about how therapy will change his problems. Arthur says by going out and doing these activities, it could change how he views the problem of his wife going out of town.
In the fourth session, Edward is especially anxious because Sharon is going to the conference that weekend. This session was not shown. In the fifth session, Edward is very happy because his weekend went well even though Sharon was away. Edward realized when he stopped fighting her on going to the conference, things got better between them. Edward went out like he said he would and he had a good time. During sessions six through eight, Edward worked on collecting, examining, and challenging his automatic thoughts regarding his job and Sharon. In session nine, they are reviewing the progress of therapy. Edward expresses that he thinks therapy has helped him quite a lot, and speaks about improving other aspects of his life through therapy. Some examples he wants to continue to improve on were his temper, his happiness, and his relationship with Sharon. |
